A work around could be to enable Zoom - Command (Apple key)+alt+8
should enable it (or in System Preferences | Universal Access), and
then Apple+alt+= to zoom in a slight amount -- under options you can
set the the minimum zoom to a level you like, and take a look at the
"when zoomed in..." settings at the bottom.
This will make everything a little bigger - without changing the
relative sizes of everything.

Try enabling "check Spelling as you type" (in Word it's under Tools
 > Spelling and Grammar > options...) in OS X text boxes (anywhere)
right click and choose Spelling > Check Spelling > As you type. In
Mail.app it's under the Edit menu. That way it underlines the word
in red and you just right or option click to correct/suggest -- and
don't need a box to annoy you?

Can't go past AppZapper -- "AppZapper - The uninstaller Apple
forgot." www.appzapper.com

Try System Preferences -- or Spotlight: Time Machine. There are a few
settings.

Most application have built in Help -- and you'll be surprised how
comprehensive it is. It might be slow - but it is often quicker than
waiting for an email reply when you're stuck

iPhoto is good for the basics. If you're trying to "Add the machine
to a Photo" app - then try something like Flickr Uploadr - and edit
online (assuming reasonable connection to 'net). There is a good
iPhoto plugin too for instant uploading. See a few of mine at http://

You're welcome to attend one of our meetings -- and especially book
in 22nd November for our Meet and Greet - and bring some of the
grandkids to watch a movie while you talk over some Apple/Mac things
with other members and non members.
