[WelMac] laptop keyboard problems

I know it's not a mac question, but we all have to work with windows 
machines from time to time so hoping someone knows what the prob may 
be....

I have a cheapo 2nd laptop which is a Compaq runing windows vista...

Last night, for some reason the entire top row of the laptop keyboard 
no longer works....
I've looked at the NUM, and screen lock but this did not fix it....

any ideas what's happened with this???
