I'm aware of one issue: each country has different rules re wireless
network frequencies. If you buy a computer in the USA its Airport
will be limited to channels 1 through 11 for the 2.4 GHz band (802.11
b/g), whereas a NZ purchase can also use channels 12 and 13. This
might cause problems accessing some wireless networks in NZ.
