I have an Elgato Hybrid (http://elgato.com/index.php?
file=products_eyetvhybrid) that my parents brought over from the
States when they came to visit in February. Works great as a device,
but my analog reception is crappy over here in Island Bay. The
interface is straight forward, etc.
I got a hybrid with an eye on the upcoming Freeview release. I'm
hoping the terrestrial version of Freeview covers Island Bay
sufficiently to get some decent picture. I have it hooked up to a
second generation Intel Mac Mini which I use for watching purchased
tv shows via iTunes/Front Row. I love it, except that I haven't
found a good set of speakers for the setup yet. Suggestions? Would
be great to find something reasonably priced that takes advantage of
the Mini's digital audio optical output and 5.1. Even if that
involves getting a separate stereo setup to take the signal (looking
on trademe for something like that is my next step).
Cheers,
Walter
