My prediction as far back as 10 years ago was that the days of  
"broadcast" television are numbered.  Provided they have access to  
adequate bandwidth and video servers with good stuff on them, most  
video watching will be served by the Video-On-Demand model where  
users choose what they want to watch and when they want to watch it.

Possible exceptions to the VOD model would be live news and sport,  
although many will choose the "replay" model for much of this viewing  
as well.  (We're recording the Louis Vuitton races at the moment and  
watching them the next day before we get news from other sources.   
It's exciting stuff when you don't know the outcome in advance.  I  
know several people who do the same for the rugby.)

I know that some critics think Apple has missed the bus in this  
market, but maybe they're just "ahead of the game" as in many of  
their other innovations.
