Hello Jun Tan

Welcome to New Zealand!!

Although Welmac is very active with well-attended monthly meetings in
Wellington and other activities as well, unfortunately this bulletin
board is not very active and the Committee has been considering
discontinuing it.

However, I see no reason why it should not revive. It just needs a
few people interested in interacting and then it should grow from there.

It sounds as if you have your digital life very well organised. Too
bad you have to put up with old dial-up. Despite many people's
grizzles about it, broadband on DSL, cable or wireless is so much better

My main computer-related interests are digital photography and
genealogy. I'm also interested in programming the Mac using
REALBasic. I've written a few programs e.g. one that solves Sudoku
puzzles and gives a detailed audit trail of the solution method. At
the moment I'm creating a Macintosh version of a Windows-only
genealogy database for the New Zealand Society of Genealogists.

Regarding your question about AppleCare:- in New Zealand you have to
go to one of the Apple resellers e.g. MagnumMac. I think they are
probably in Auckland and most likely there are others there as well.
I think that any licensed Apple reseller will honour your AppleCare
warranty. (I live in Lower Hutt, which is about 20km from Wellington.)

All the best

John Crook
